tonycon_ was founded in 2001 as a side project to canecapovolto (video and sound works, podcasts) and The Ox* (electronic and electroacoustic music), and is currently exploring a range of artistic approaches, from abstract / figurative works to artist’s books and objects.
Tonycon_’s works, which come in standard square sizes (cm 12.7 x 12.7 - 21 x 21 and 34 x 34) are designed
for the contemporary art shop option (seen as a way to transcend the art gallery system) and to encourage small-scale collecting.
Rumours had spread that tonycon_ created his paintings whilst in a state of hypnosis, but this proved to be implausible. It must be said, however, that phrases written backwards often appear in the artworks.
